Description
Husband and wife team Patrick and Peggy Bookey create stunning birch bowls with pierced designs in North Pole, Alaska. Patrick starts with a solid chunk of interior Alaskan birch. He then dries the wood to 8% humidity before lathe-turning it into a bowl of a very thin consistent thickness.
Then Peggy takes over and begins the intricate, painstaking process of cutting out minute pieces from the bowl to form a lace-like pattern Alaskan imagery. She uses dental tools to carve as they have the least vibration.
These delicate bowls are perfect for display, especially with an electronic tea light inside to case light through the beautiful designs.
